We have therefore purchased 80 CER carbon offsets from the Norwegian Pollution Control Autority (SFT), to compensate for our CO2 emissions. Verdane Capital wishes to encourage individuals and companies to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Offsetting through purchase of EUAs or CERs, is a good option for emissions that can not be avoided.
EUAs and CERs purchased through SFT will be cancelled in the Norwegian registry. This removes the emission allowance from the market. It cannot subsequently be reused by another party or company. Reducing the number of available EUAs and CERs is therefore an important and concrete step towards lowering global greenhouse gas emissions.
